Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior within this firm’s specialised team, you will engage in diverse activities from the outset, guided by experienced leadership. Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in a variety of fixed asset tax projects, including consultations with clients to address their tax challenges and explore opportunities related to fixed assets.
- Assisting in sales and marketing efforts, including the preparation of capital allowances and fixed asset service proposals, as well as conducting high-level feasibility analyses to estimate potential allowances.
- Supporting the broader tax practice by providing advice on tax technical matters related to transactions, and due diligence for both vendors and purchasers.
- Coordinating with clients and their advisors to gather detailed construction cost information.
- Reviewing legal documents, such as sale and purchase agreements, leasehold agreements, and contribution agreements, to clarify entitlement to capital allowances.
- Analysing available documentation and using quantity surveying expertise to address any gaps, ensuring defensible valuations.
- Investigating asset lives and business needs to aid in allocating qualifying expenditure to the appropriate capital allowances pool.
- Preparing and reviewing detailed capital allowances reports, categorising the various allowances identified.
- Providing technical updates to clients and the tax practice following changes in capital allowances legislation.
- Drafting technical responses to HM Revenue & Customs inquiries regarding client claims.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of service delivery.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience or qualifications in quantity surveying, valuations, or construction technology are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong technical skills with a desire for further development.
- Proficient in MS Excel; additional or advanced technology skills are a plus.
- Effective project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to identify risks, conduct thorough reviews, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with a proactive attitude toward suggesting improvements.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and deliver high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, across various situations.
- Proven relationship management skills, with the capability to manage client expectations effectively.
