About the Role

This firm seeks a seasoned tax professional to join their dynamic team in St Albans. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, including sole traders and partnerships, handling annual compliance work and collaborating directly with partners on planning issues and staff development.

Key responsibilities encompass all aspects of income tax, National Insurance, and capital gains tax. The role involves reviewing and filing Self-Assessment tax returns, client liaison, and assisting with advisory work on matters such as inheritance tax planning, residence issues, and trust structures. The position requires attendance at client meetings, budget management, and correspondence with HMRC regarding enquiries and disclosures.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, work independently, and demonstrate initiative in client affairs. They will oversee information gathering for tax returns, manage billing processes, and monitor time budgets and chargeability. Active participation in departmental meetings and networking events is expected.

Proficiency in CCH packages and SharePoint is necessary. The position requires CTA qualification and a minimum of five years' private client tax experience. Essential attributes include client-facing experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines efficiently. Strong computer skills, particularly in Word and Excel, are crucial. The successful applicant will also display people management skills and commercial acumen.
