Opportunity in an Independent firm.

This firm seeks a Tax Director.   As the Director of Private Client Tax Consultancy, you will occupy a pivotal position within the Private Client team, steering the provision of bespoke tax consultancy services to the firm’s most affluent clients.

This role demands a meticulous approach to managing the personal tax affairs of a diverse portfolio of high net worth individuals, ensuring that their wealth planning needs are met with exceptional precision.

Your responsibilities will include delivering comprehensive compliance and advisory services while leading and supporting ad-hoc tax projects. This position also requires you to mentor and guide team members, upholding the firm’s commitment to the highest standards of client service.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients in the portfolio, ensuring regular communication and addressing specific tax inquiries.
  • Oversee and deliver ad-hoc advisory projects in collaboration with the tax team.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all client deliverables, including personal, trust, and corporate tax returns.
  • Monitor UK Tax legislation changes, evaluate their impact on clients, and initiate relevant advisory projects.

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities for additional services and develop innovative solutions for client needs.
  • Assist the Partner in acquiring new clients, participating in marketing initiatives, and expanding professional networks.

Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction, guidance, and feedback to colleagues, ensuring effective task delegation and support.
  • Review the work of junior team members, addressing technical queries and ensuring accuracy.
  • Participate in management meetings and collaborate with the Corporate and Personal Tax Compliance Director to ensure cohesive leadership across all tax functions.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Private Tax Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge in areas such as Inheritance Tax, Trusts, Capital Gains Tax, and international taxation.
  • Client Management: Extensive experience advising high net worth clients on personal tax and wealth planning.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial insight, ensuring advice aligns with clients' business goals.
  • Business Development: Proven ability to develop and manage a client portfolio, with deep understanding of high net worth sectors.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide strategic direction, mentorship, and support to colleagues.
