This firm seeks motivated, energetic, and collaborative professionals to join their US team in London, particularly managers and senior managers with expertise in private equity funds, to contribute to the team’s growth this year.

This firm’s London-based team is a rapidly expanding practice and committed to delivering outstanding client service to the asset management sector. This includes hedge funds, debt funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, and their management companies.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for managing US tax compliance engagements for private equity fund clients, addressing associated risks, operational challenges, and technical tax matters. You will research US tax laws and convey their implications to asset management clients as part of tax consulting projects. This dynamic environment requires you to mentor junior staff, both onshore and offshore, and share your expertise with the team. Additionally, you will be tasked with coordinating the schedules and deadlines of multiple engagement teams.

  • Proficiency in partnership allocations and an understanding of private equity carry waterfalls.
  • Practical knowledge of international tax concepts such as PFICs, CFCs, and foreign information reporting.
  • Understanding of debt vs. equity analysis, UBTI, and related analysis for computing private equity fund taxable income.
  • Experience advising on the US tax implications of investment and fund structures, including tax elections.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while handling internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Eagerness to learn new concepts with minimal supervision.
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring and developing team members.

Qualifications

  • Current CPA, EA, or equivalent qualification, or a Degree/Master’s in accounting or taxation.
  • Extensive experience in preparing and reviewing partnership tax returns and Schedules K-1.
  • Expertise in computing taxable income and partnership allocations for private equity funds.
  • Knowledge of international tax returns and US tax laws.
  • Proficiency in Go Systems tax preparation software or a similar system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale fund compliance projects involving extensive hours, multiple funds, and cross-border teams.
  • Ability to explain US tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders at a practical level.
  • Background in financial services, particularly in private equity funds within a US tax capacity.
  • Experience in delivering both technical and soft skills training to junior team members.
