About the Role

Opportunity in a Boutique firm.

This firm seeks a highly experienced Tax Senior to join their Northampton office. The ideal candidate possesses extensive tax compliance expertise within a practice setting, coupled with current technical knowledge and exceptional communication abilities. While advisory or VAT experience is beneficial, the primary focus is on the candidate's practical skills and experience rather than formal qualifications.

The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, along with superior communication skills. The successful applicant will manage a diverse tax client portfolio, including directors, self-employed individuals, high-net-worth individuals, expatriates, and trusts. Identifying tax planning opportunities and investigation issues is crucial, as is the ability to effectively communicate these to relevant stakeholders within the organisation.

Key responsibilities encompass tax reporting and compliance, preparation of corporate and personal tax returns, research and report creation, project management, and year-end tax reviews. The position also involves mentoring junior team members.

Essential criteria include a minimum of four years' experience in a senior tax role or equivalent, a strong interest in taxation (formal qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory), and ideally, experience in portfolio management. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, self-motivation, disciplined work habits, strong organisational skills, and the capacity to work effectively as part of a larger team.
