About the Role

Opportunity in a Top 30 firm.

This esteemed firm seeks a Tax Senior, either recently qualified or established, with ambitions for advancement to Assistant Manager and higher roles.

Role Objective:

The role involves managing a portfolio of corporate tax clients, overseeing their compliance cycle with guidance from senior team members, and participating in advisory work as appropriate. This pivotal position requires the candidate to handle business tax compliance functions at their designated office.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and potentially review UK corporation tax computations.
  • Monitor reporting and payment deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the audit and accounts team to advise on tax accounting entries and disclosures.
  • Train and mentor junior colleagues within the Business Tax Team.
  • Provide corporation tax compliance proposals and quotes to prospective clients.
  • Depending on experience, coordinate and review other business tax-related returns (e.g., ATED, ERS, EMI, P11Ds, etc.).
  • Monitor and manage financial performance in line with KPIs.
  • Manage correspondence with clients and HMRC.
  • Identify opportunities for tax planning, risk mitigation, and cross-selling services.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and duties as required.
  • Ensure adherence to the firm's technical, ethical, risk, and compliance procedures.

The ideal candidate will operate autonomously with support from tax partners and directors. Key aspects of the role include relationship management, effective teamwork, direct client coordination, and mentoring junior team members.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong technical and practical knowledge of corporate tax.
  • Understanding of tax issues affecting owner-managed businesses and their shareholders.
  • Preferably knowledgeable in other business taxes and tax reporting processes.
  • Familiarity with UK accounting standards and proficiency in interpreting financial information.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office and databases; experience with Alphatax is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
