About the Role

Opportunity in a Big 4 firm.

This firm seeks an experience professional Senior Tax manager to join them.  This role focuses on supporting clients in transforming business processes across a variety of tax domains (including direct, indirect, and product tax) through the strategic use of tax technologies, data strategies, and automation capabilities. This position will involve delivering tax engagements to some of the world’s largest financial institutions, including many within the FTSE 100 and Fortune 500.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a subject matter expert, including solution/vendor evaluations, design, implementation, and configuration of technology and data-oriented solutions.
Evaluate tax function business models, processes, and operations to gain a comprehensive understanding of business needs and requirements.
Analyse and interpret tax business requirements, translating these into tax and IT technical requirements and specifications, while providing insights on system and technical components to inform the technical design.
Develop technical specifications to guide system architectural design and development; perform quality assurance tasks to ensure requirements completeness, reviewing work of junior team members.
Engage with stakeholders in both the tax practice and IT functions to gather, document, and analyse business requirements.
Conduct analyses to assess whether a solution/technology implementation is meeting overall business, tax, and IT requirements.
Implement and uphold tax data quality standards in financial systems to improve tax processes, operations, and effectiveness; enhance tax governance and control through content management, workflow, and document management solutions.
Contribute to business case development, support RFP responses, and experiment with new and existing data to address defined business challenges.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

Demonstrated experience in gathering and interpreting tax function requirements.
Proven expertise in developing technical requirements and specifications, with knowledge of software engineering methodologies, reporting tools, modeling, and testing.
Experience in applying Lean Six Sigma and Business Process Modeling and Notation.
Skilled in developing and/or implementing tax technology solutions.
Ability to manage complex consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and a practical, business-driven approach.
Project and program management skills, including project planning, documentation, resource coordination, risk management, budget management, stakeholder reporting, and project close-out.
Capacity to build valuable relationships with both internal and client stakeholders, contributing to business development initiatives.
Effective coordination and management of stakeholders from business and IT functions, at various levels of seniority.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; results-oriented, with an inquisitive and analytical approach.
Committed to delivering high-quality output and managing multiple initiatives with flexibility in response to changing business priorities.
Interest in ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Robotic Process Automation solutions, and popular cloud-computing platforms (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud).

Qualifications and Experience Required:

University degree is required; ACA/CTA or equivalent qualifications are preferred but not essential.
Significant prior experience in a technology or business transformation role, preferably within Tax Technology or Financial Services.
Background in the development or implementation of tax technology solutions.
Skilled in strategic and tactical planning, suited to a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience with a comparable firm (e.g., Big 4, global consultancy) is advantageous.
Willingness to travel within the UK or abroad, as required to support engagement delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the financial services sector.
Familiarity with ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Broad knowledge of tax compliance reporting requirements, including Corporation Tax, Payroll Taxes, Income Tax, and VAT.
