About the Role

Opportunity in a PE-backed firm.

This firm is seeking a Tax Manager to join the Large Corporate team. The position involves managing a compliance portfolio for large UK and international clients, with a focus on providing expert tax advice and overseeing complex tax-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a portfolio of UK compliance clients, primarily large corporations and international entities.
  • Review and provide guidance on reports and advice prepared by junior team members, covering a range of tax issues such as expansion into new markets, corporate tax compliance, and tax-efficient structuring.
  • Coordinate and manage corporate tax compliance both in-house and with external local advisors.
  • Provide strategic advice on intercompany transactions, including compliance with transfer pricing regulations.
  • Lead the delivery of tax-related advice for large corporate and international clients, addressing issues like tax risk, transfer pricing, and corporate restructuring.
  • Manage the execution of complex funding structure matters, such as interest deductibility, debt restructuring, and withholding tax.
  • Guide group restructurings, including demergers and share purchases.
  • Offer expertise in preparing and interpreting tax opinions, including liaising with Tax Counsel on intricate matters.
  • Stay informed on new and evolving UK tax legislation to optimise financial structures.
  • Proactively handle UK and international tax investigations and inquiries.
  • Build and nurture client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional engagements.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members and support broader team training initiatives.
  • Assist the leadership team with key projects, including tax technology and growth strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent, with ATT/CTA/ADIT certifications or equivalent knowledge.
  • A minimum of 7 years of UK corporate tax experience with multinational groups.
  • Proven experience in managing international and large corporate tax projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver professional, technically sound tax advice.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
